Make Your List & Check It Twice!

This evening will be hosted by local silversmith/goldsmith and custom jeweler Kevin Duris.  Kevin creates one of a kind pieces of jewelry and object d'art in his gallery on Thames Street.  You can find beautiful, unique gifts in all price ranges.  For example, there is a cast metal horseshoe crab paperweight that is exquisite.  Turn it over, and it's a bottle opener too! (I think my hubby needs one...it's better than a lump of coal.)  Obviously, there are lovely pieces for the ladies as well and I am captivated by the number of vividly colored sapphires in yellows and ceylon blues as well as some unusually cut diamonds that one would not normally find in a jewelry store. For example, he has a lovely pair of diamond earrings with a delicate round brilliant cut stud offset by a dainty rose cut teardrop diamond. Duris is a member of the community in Newport and he features the work of other local artisans in addition to his own.

Alexander Nesbitt, owner of Blink Gallery and renowned photographer will be collaborating with Kevin Duris for a night of kid-free shopping!  Alexander has created a method to mount his award winning photos on blocks of maple.  They are perfectly priced for Christmas gifts.  I have found them to be the perfect hostess gift and I have several on my personal wish list too. Mr. Nesbitt signs each print and offers an array of pieces from the New England area as well as many from his travels in Asia and Africa.  He is a genius at capturing those moments that take one's breath away.

We will have drinks and snacks.  Please join us to make your list and do a little (or a lot) of Christmas shopping.
